Introduction to FT Technologies

FT Technologies is a Payment Technology Partner that enables connection to processors in the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region.
FT Technologies builds connections with
Cybersource
 using the Common Transaction Processing (CTP) version 4 gateway. The connection supports Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Diners Club, China Union Pay, and other local card brands.

Processing a Payment

This workflow illustrates a successful authorization and capture.

  1. The cardholder initiates a purchase by entering card details online or by tapping, inserting, or swiping the card at a PoS or transit terminal.
  2. The merchant sends the transaction request to
    Cybersource
    .
  3. Cybersource
     processes the payment request and sends the request to the FT Technologies gateway.
  4. FT Technologies processes the transaction and sends to domestic card schemes.
  5. The domestic card scheme processes the transaction and sends it to the issuer.
  6. The issuer sends approval to the domestic card scheme.
  7. The domestic card scheme forwards the approval to FT Technologies.
  8. FT Technologies sends the approval to Cybersource.
  9. Cybersource sends the approval to the merchant.
  10. FT Technologies generates and sends the clearing file to the acquirer.
  11. The acquirer settles the transaction with the issuer through the appropriate domestic card scheme.

Authorization Reversal

This section provides the information about how to process an authorization reversal.
Reversing an authorization releases the hold on the customer’s payment card funds that the issuing bank placed when processing the authorization.
For a debit card or prepaid card in which only a partial amount was approved, the amount of the reversal must be the amount that was authorized, not the amount that was requested.

Authorization with Contact EMV and Online PIN

This section provides the information you need in order to process an authorization with contact EMV and an online PIN.
For an EMV chip contact authorization, the customer inserts the card directly into a point-of-sale (POS) terminal. For an online PIN authorization, the customer enters a PIN to verify their identity, and the issuer verifies the PIN.
Online PIN transactions are supported by these card types:

Authorization with Contactless EMV and Online PIN

This section provides the information you need in order to process an authorization with contactless EMV and an online PIN.
For an EMV contactless payment, the customer taps the card on the terminal. The terminal and chip use near-field communication (NFC) to communicate with each other. For an online PIN transaction, the customer uses a PIN to verify their identity and the issuer verifies the PIN.
Online PIN transactions are supported by these card types:
