Shopify supports millions of merchants, enabling them to access foreign markets and cross-border opportunities. Businesses can sell in multiple currencies and receive payments in their local currency.

As Shopify re-architects its payment infrastructure, it requires all payment partners to migrate to this new setup. This migration aims to provide parity with the existing integration wherever possible. While some elements will change or be discontinued, Shopify and Cybersource are working together to minimize disruptions.

This new application facilitates a quick and easy connection between your online store, Shopify’s new payments platform, and Cybersource. If your business relies on Cybersource for payment processing, this application ensures a seamless transition.

*3D-Secure transactions are handled directly between Shopify and Cardinal Commerce, however, you can use your existing Cybersource 3DS keys and continue to be billed for the service through Cybersource preventing the requirement to sign any additonal agreements with Shopify

Getting started

Onboarding New Merchants

  • The merchant will log in to their Shopify account and click “Settings” on the lower left corner.
  • Click “Payments” and “See all other providers”
  • Start typing “Cybersource” in the search bar until the app appears. Then click the arrow to the right.
  • Click “Complete all steps as in the previous section.

Configure the Plugin - Card Payments

Now that you have enabled the plugin within Shopify it's time to configure the installation

a. Sign in to your Shopify Back Office

b. Access "Settings -> Payments"

c. Select 'Manage' link on Cybersource tile

d. Enter the required information

  1. Login -> your Cybersource Org ID
  2. Transaction Key -> SOAP Key generated in step 1
  3. Select the card types you wish to accept (including Apple Pay)
  4. Select/deselect 'Enable Test Mode' depending on system being configured
  5. Select 'Activate/Save Cybersource' button to save configuration

Configure Plugin - 3D-Secure

Please ensure that you have signed up to Payer Authentication through Cybersource and your Cardinal Keys have either been saved in your Business Centre Account or provided to you through support

Now that you have enabled the plugin within Shopify it's time to configure the installation

a. Sign in to your Shopify Back Office

b. Access "Settings -> Payments"

c. Select 'Manage' link on Cybersource tile

d. Enter the required 3D-Secure information

1. Select Enable 3D Secure with Cardinal

2. Input your API identifier

3. Input your Org Unit ID

4. Input your API Key

5. Enter the Transaction URL:

TEST -> https://centineltest.cardinalcommerce.com/maps/txns.asp

LIVE -> https://cybersource.cardinalcommerce.com/maps/txns.asp

e. Select 'Save'

Validate/Test the installation

Now you have enabled and configured the plugin now is the time to check your integration works.

a. Open your Shopify Web Store

b. Add an item to the Cart and proceed to checkout

c. Enter Shipping information

d. Enter test card information*

e. Select Pay Now

View in EBC

After processing your order it may be beneficial to log into you Business Centre account review the transaction

*If you're testing Payer Authentication please use the test cards contained within this guide.

For Merchant Migration Only

  • The merchant clicks the “Log In to Install” within the link provided by Cybersource
  • The merchant will log in with their Shopify credentials

  • Once in their Shopify account, the merchant will click “Connect to Cybersource”
  • The merchant will then Login to the Cybersource Business Centre and accept the terms to allow Shopify to submit transactions on their behalf
    • Please note merchants wishing to utilize 3D-Secure will need to ensure they also select to enable 3D-Secure at this point.  If they miss this step they will need to re-install to enable in the future.
  • Select Approve and you will be redirected back to Shopify  
  • The merchant will choose the card brands they accept (based on their current Cybersource account) and click “Activate” in the lower right corner.
  • The merchant should also enable “Test Mode” here to run test transactions to ensure the application is connected properly, however, please note, LIVE transactions will appear to process but no funds will be collected. Do not ship product for transactions[PW1]  in test mode.
  • The merchant can manage their application by logging into their Shopify admin account, clicking Settings → Payments → Manage
    • Please advise the merchant that any changes will need to be saved to be implemented.
